Maria Rodale is a writer, activist and former Chairman and CEO of Rodale Inc, a global health and wellness media company. Rodale Inc published Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World and Bicycling magazines, and the books, The South Beach Diet, Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth and Thug Kitchen. While CEO of Rodale Inc she launched the Rodale Kids book imprint, which is now owned by Penguin Random House. She is the author of many books, including Organic Manifesto, Heal Our Planet and Keep Us Safe, and Scratch, Home Cooking for Everyone Made Simple. She is also a current board member and former co-chair of the board of the Rodale Institute, a non-profit agricultural research and education organization which is home to the longest running scientific research on organic farming versus conventional agriculture known around the world as the Farming Systems Trial. That same ethic of scientific research is now being applied to vegetable crops and hemp. She served for many years as a board member of Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project (NYRP) which planted over 1 million trees in New York City.
